Eveready Flashlight Co., Lucknow
Eveready was retiring an old model and wanted a replacement for the rural markets. The brief for design of a new flashlight for Eveready was that the product should have a sophisticated personality. It was to be designed for a predominantly rural audience, who look at value propositions.
Concepts were presented, prototypes were made in a combination of metal and plastic. The final design that was chosen for manufacture had an aluminium body with moulded plastic heads and knobs. Parts were combined to reduce inventory and costs.
It was the least expensive flashlight in the market but was not looking cheap. Eveready industries had sold the product for 15 years and drew good profits from it.
